The Old Man
One day as I was all
alone, depressed about life's load
I looked up and saw a man
shuffling down the road
He looked old and weary
and he looked out of place
Yet, I never saw a more
peaceful look than the look upon his face
He came to me and sat right down and made himself
at home
Though I tried to make it
clear I was there to be alone
My anger at his presence I
in no way did disguise
But he did not seem to
notice as he gazed into my eyes.

He said " If I didn't know better, you've
bout had enough

Surprised I said "But I sometimes feel that
my life has no worth"
He smiled and said,
"but my son, that's why Jesus came to
earth"
I said, "But I feel
he doesn't care no matter how oft I've
cried"
He took my hand and said
to me, "It was for your tears he died"
"But how do you know he really cares and
that he is my friend?"
He held me to his breast
and said "That's why He rose again"
I tried to talk, but could
not speak as I cried like ne'er before
And the old man sat and
held me close till the tears would fall no more

He shocked me when he said
"Little one, I care for what is mine"
I glanced up to look at
him, but he began to disappear
And He touched my heart
and said, "My son, I am always here"
