Help Wanted

The Lord had an opening in His realm, not just for anyone
It seemed impossible to fill, most thought it could not be done
Finally after months and months of interviews each day
The head of all the angels thought, "its time I had my say."

He marched right in to see the Lord, The Lord looked up surprised

The Angel felt so sad for Him to see weariness in His eyes
Lord, he said, "I've got to say, this has gone on long enough
I know you expect perfection, but the qualifications are too tough."

"Look here," he said, he held the ad, "Who could be this good?

No One has all the things you want, You've done the best You could.
It says here 'A loving smile that wipes away the tears,
A look so soft yet strong enough to chase away the fears'"

"'Someone who with a simple kiss can cure a skinned-up knee

And who can have a tea party with out a single drop of tea
Someone who always seems to know just what's going on
Who reads minds when needed to know when something's wrong'"

"'Who knows just when the truth is told, and when it is a lie

And who always knows just what to do to make everything all right
Who always has the patience of Job and Ruth's desire to be true
And the faith of Abraham, and Solomon's wisdom, too'"

"'Who knows just when and how to laugh without ever asking why

But more importantly she knows just when and how to cry
Who seems to have more hands than two to accomplish all she can
To make that little girl a woman, and that little boy a man'"

"Lord," the Angel cried when done, "this person does not exist

So why, dear Lord, please tell me, just why You so persist?"
The Lord looked up and shook His head, the answer so plainly there
"I need this person desperately, because my little ones need care."

"But You'll never find her!" he exclaimed, The Lord smiled His special way

"That's where you're wrong, my caring friend, I found her just today."
Who can it be? the angel asked, his surprise was plain to see
"Her name is MOTHER," said the Lord, "She's the next best thing to Me."
