I Had Forgotten How To Laugh

Remember childhood?

Days of cowboys and Indians, chasing ice cream trucks, and Saturday Morning cartoons
And Laughter

Always Laughter

Recess and freeze tag, Batman lunchboxes, eating cookie batter and catching fireflies
And Laughter

Always Laughter

Then we grew up.

When did it happen? I can't remember.

We were kids. Then we weren't.

And the laughter went away.

I did not notice it at first. I did not miss it.

Somehow, it just seemed right to not laugh. To not play.

Cowboys and Indians turned into corporate mergers.

Chasing ice cream trucks turned into chasing after children

And who eats cookie batter anymore?

Freeze tag turned into 9-5. Summers disappeared.

And the laughter went away.

Then I met you.

You never forgot how to laugh.

You never let go of the child inside.

In the business world in which you are successful, you still chase ice cream trucks and play freeze tag.
And you laugh.

It brightens up the room, and my world.

And it makes ME laugh. And that feels good.

I had forgotten how to laugh till I met you.

I had forgotten the part of me that made me happy.

I am gonna be busy for awhile

See, there is this ice cream truck that comes by in a few minutes…..
